New musical instrument number 1: Electromagnetic piano

Turning any concert grand with an electromagnetic piano was a dream for the composer David Shea. The combination of traditional sounds and electronic music that can give out evenly sustained drones have been one of the greatest dreams of the composer. This dream led to a breakthrough idea which paved the way for musicians to play the traditional keyboard and the electromagnetic component at the same time. It is actually a mini computer with each note hovering over the string without even touching it.

New musical instrument number 2: Microtonal lego guitar

Traditional guitars generally have the frets that arrange pitch according to the western tuning system. But, Tolgahan Cogulu, who loves playing Guitar, wants to play his own music which was not possible with the traditional guitars as turkish music relies on microtones. This made cogulu to design a microtonal guitar which had movable frets.

This instrument also makes teaching and learning music easy as this musical instrument makes the changing of intervals visible.

New musical instrument number 3: Segulharpa

In an effort to draw a doodle in the monotonous class in college, Ulfur Hansson’s electromagnetic harp’s design came into existence. It was while drawing a doodle that Ulfur envisioned an electromagnetic harp with 24 strings concealed on a flat wooden structure and the strings are made to vibrate by electromagnets. The magnets can be operated remotely by a computer or by keys carved into the front panel.
